The Cardinals’ James Conner is questionable to return against the Rams

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner is questionable to return against the Los Angeles Rams due to a knee injury.

Conner was seen being examined in the second quarter of Saturday’s competition before jumping on a stationary bike to try to work out his knee.

The running back managed four yards on four carries before heading to the sideline. He also caught two passes for four yards.

It wasn’t a given that Conner would play this week after recovering from a knee injury suffered in last week’s overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. Despite only playing about three quarters, Conner managed to improve Carolina’s run defense with 117 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He also topped all Arizona pass catchers with 49 yards on four receptions.

But after a week of limited practice, Conner was deemed healthy enough to play this week.

With Conner’s status uncertain and rookie Trey Benson out with an ankle problem, Arizona has two running backs available in Michael Carter and DeeJay Dallas.

Either way, it’s a tough blow for an Arizona offense that has lacked consistency since the bye week.
