A cold front is coming this evening

Good morning, Southwest Florida! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

This morning we wake up to patchy fog again and visibility is less than a mile in some areas. This fog will mix in after 8 a.m. and we will see plenty of sunshine throughout the afternoon as we wait for a cold front to arrive later this afternoon into the evening. Highs will reach 80° this afternoon with a west wind around 10 mph.

There will be a line of showers along the front this afternoon. This line will move northwest to southeast, bringing a threat of showers to Charlotte and DeSoto County around 3 p.m. This line will begin to break apart as it moves south and by 6:00 p.m. this broken line of showers will be in Glades, Hendry and Lee counties. After sunset, this line will move quickly eastward and break apart, and by 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. the chance of rain for Southwest Florida will be over.

Behind the front we will see cooler weather over the weekend with high temperatures in the lower to mid 70s on Saturday and Sunday.

At the beginning of next week it will be cold by our standards. Highs will only be around 71° on Monday and we should stay in the upper 60s in many places on Tuesday. Lows will be in the high 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, with Tuesday morning being the coldest. Currently the forecast low temperature for Tuesday morning in Fort Myers is 45°. It’s possible we will see upper 30s inland and north.
