NFL Week 17: Early afternoon game thread opened

The Washington Commanders host the Atlanta Falcons tonight on Sunday Night Football. There are six games to watch in the early afternoon, and a few games Commanders fans should keep an eye on for playoff implications.

CBS has three games, but the NFC South game will be a must-see for Washington fans. If the Carolina Panthers beat (or tie) the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Commanders will clinch a playoff spot before even playing a snap this week. There are two AFC division games, and only the Bills have anything to offer.

Fox also has three games in the early block. The battle of backup QBs takes center stage here, with the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Eagles win, they are division champions, if they lose, the Washington Commanders are still alive in the NFC East. The New York Giants are on their way to landing the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft, and another win today will bring them one step closer.
