Raiders tight end Brock Bowers sets two rookie records

NEW ORLEANS – Las Vegas Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers broke two rookie pass-catching records in the Raiders’ game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Bowers for the first time surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Ditka’s 63-year-old record for most receiving yards in a season by a rookie tight end with a 13-yard catch late in the second quarter, Ditka’s mark of 1,076 receiving Yards in 1961 topped for the Chicago Bears.

At halftime, Bowers had 1,105 receiving yards this season.

In the second half, Bowers caught his fifth pass of the day for an 11-yard pickup. That brought him to 106 catches this season, one more than Puka Nacua had last season for the Las Angeles Rams, setting a new record for most catches in a season by a rookie.
