Entergy offers storm preparation tips ahead of Saturday’s inclement weather in the metro

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Some of you may have experienced power outages early Friday morning, and you can expect that to happen again on Saturday.

While restoration work and preparations have already begun for Entergy, there are a few things they want to remind you of before the weather arrives.

Essentials included a first aid kit, water, non-perishable food and possibly a generator.

About 11,000 customers were without subway power as of Friday morning, and authorities expect that number to rise over the weekend.

Entergy says they will have extra hands available to begin restoration work as soon as possible.

Still, Entergy spokeswoman Candace Coleman is asking you to come up with a plan.

“We want to remind our customers to be ready too. Have a plan. Have a kit ready. Just be prepared if some of these storms impact your home. If you are fortunate enough to have a generator, you should use a generator safely and smartly during this time,” said Entergy spokeswoman Candace Coleman.

Entergy also asks for your patience as it will take time to complete the damage assessment before beginning to restore power following the inclement weather.
