World-class entertainment plays on the Kona Big Wave stage

“Watching world-class skiing isn’t the only reason to attend the Stifel Killington Cup,” said Amy Laramie, director of brand marketing and events. “I’m really looking forward to this year’s music program with energetic bands that will keep the party going all weekend.”

The action begins Friday at the Kona Big Wave Stage in the Festival Village in the K-1 Base Area, which opens at 3 p.m

DJ Ross One kicks off the party at 5:30 p.m. with the presentation of the athlete bibs at 5:45 p.m., followed by fireworks.

DJ Ross One, a staple of the Hollywood party scene, will pump up the crowd and athletes with musical vibes, playing a seamless mix of tracks while presenters host a full show complete with prizes, a t-shirt gun, mascots, vendors, Food etc moderate drinks and more. The evening ends with a bang as the fireworks are enhanced by the reflections of the snow-covered slopes.

Between Saturday’s giant slalom races, live music will continue to be played on the Kona Big Wave Stage, while Matt Quinn, lead singer of indie folk-rock group Mt. Joy, will delight the audience with a unique acoustic solo set. His unique blend of indie rock, folk and jam band influences creates a powerful live experience that the Stifel Killington Cup audience is sure to appreciate as they dance to keep warm in between the action.

Following Saturday’s race, Fitz and the Tantrums perform their signature mix of neo-soul and indie pop, captivating the audience with energetic performances and infectious hooks.

“The Killington Cup is much more than a race, it is also one of the biggest parties of the year,” said Killington President and General Manager Mike Solimano. “This year’s program features great music across a variety of genres throughout the weekend and is sure to delight fans between the breathtaking runs on the track.”

“The Northeast’s passion for ski racing runs deep,” Solimano continued. “The athletes, fans and volunteers bring a level of energy that is unlike anything else we experience at the resort.”

“The Killington Cup has become a fan and athlete favorite,” said Eric Webster, senior director of events for US Ski & Snowboard. “It is a true celebration of the excellence of ski racing, the international racing community and inspiring the next generation. Since bringing World Cup ski racing back to New England, Killington Resort and Vermont have set a new precedent for international ski racing and boast the largest Women’s World Cup audience anywhere in the circuit.”

Fans are advised to dress warmly and wear waterproof footwear as the festival site is covered in snow and may be wet and/or muddy.
