A bloody death and a brave sacrifice as the Duttons say goodbye explains the ending

Generations of blood and sacrifice have led to this Yellowstoneis the last episode ever.

A final sacrifice is made. A final Dutton is buried. Read below to find out everything that happened in the most anticipated season finale of the year.

The episode begins with Mo leading members of the Broken Rock tribe to fight the expansion of the pipeline through their land.

As they dip the pipes into the water, you slowly sink into darkness. Is this a foretaste of the darkness to come?

Back in Yellowstone Bunkhouse, the Cowboys celebrate a successful auction.

There is cheering, laughter and lots of whiskey.

Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Travis (series creator Taylor Sheridan) return to the 6666 Ranch, while Walker (Ryan Bingham) and Laramie (Bingham’s real-life wife Hassie Harrison) reveal they will be joining them soon.

And that goes for Teeter (Jennifer Landon).

“There are too many memories” here in Yellowstone, she says.

“A small house, a big barn” on 7,000 acres 40 miles west of Dillon, Montana,” Beth reveals to her husband.

Rip likes it… and Beth sighs with relief because she already bought it this morning.

But who will run the Yellowstone Ranch? Before Beth can respond, she receives a phone call that sends her outside in tears.

“The funeral home called, he’s ready,” she reveals between deep breaths. Her beloved father John Dutton (Kevin Costner) will be buried next to her mother today.

Following an emotional final request from Rip, the cowboys begin digging John’s grave.

Meanwhile, Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) are on their way to visit Monica (Kelsey Asbille). and Kayce (Luke Grimes).

“My family can’t afford the inheritance tax on the ranch,” says Kayce. “You can’t afford to buy…”

Kayce admits that only he can save his family, but Rainwater can save the ranch.

“When my ancestors came here, land was selling for $1.25 an acre, back when it was your land… when they took it. And that’s the price I’m offering you,” Kayce said.

That is, under two conditions: Kayce keeps the East Camp for his family and second, rainwater can never form on the Yellowstone land.

“Your people are buried in this land, and mine too,” Rainwater finally replies. “It is sacred and we will treat it that way.”

Rainwater and Kayce make a blood pact.

The deal is sealed, Yellowstone is declared a wilderness area and nothing can be built.

“We are free now,” Kayce holds back tears as he holds Monica in his arms.

Fighting for his own freedom is Jamie (Wes Bentley), who will now do it everything He can connect the deaths of his ex-girlfriend Sarah and John.

The memorial service begins and Jamie is noticeably missed. One look at John’s coffin and Beth bursts into tears.

“You made me promise not to sell an inch. “I hope you understand now that I’m keeping it,” she cries to her father’s grave.

“We won,” she whispers.

But that’s not all Beth whispers. Her final words are a chilling escape: “I will avenge you.”

At that moment, Beth storms back to the main house and grabs a knife. She speeds away in her car and soon Rip realizes what she is doing.

“GET IN,” shouts Rip Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) before they chase them down the highway.

There is no time to lose: “PULL OVER THE F–KING CAR,” he demands of her. There must be another way.

Jamie comes home and Beth is waiting to ambush him. She attacks him from behind – using bear spray directly into his eyes, before he mercilessly knocks her to the ground.

Jamie reaches new levels of crazy. He reveals his plans to blame Beth for the murders, otherwise he will reveal every family secret.

But he forgets one thing. Beth is always one step ahead of him.

“We sold the ranch,” she looks him in the eyes.

“We sold it for $1.25 an acre, $1.1 million for the largest ranch in Montana,” she laughs as she falls to the ground. “To the reservation!”

Beth takes one last step. (Stan)

“You did what?” Jamie’s world shatters.

“YOU HAVE WHAT?!” He asks again before kicking her down again.

Beth pulls out her knife, but Jamie begins to strangle her. Beth gasps as she’s about to die the same way her father did.

She’s on her last breath… before Rip rushes to her aid.

But the fight is not over yet.

Jamie meets his tragic fate. (Stan)

“Wait!” Beth says as she escapes Jamie’s arms – and slowly stabs him in the chest.

“Look at me. Exactly, I’ll be the last thing you ever see,” she pursues him as he falls to his death.

Rip goes to damage control, but Beth has a plan. She tells Rip to drop Jamie off at the “train station” while she calls 911

The story goes that Beth confronted Jamie for not attending her father’s funeral. She accused him of being involved in her father’s death, so he knocked her unconscious and when she woke up, he disappeared.

Beth gives the detectives tips on how to find John’s killer.

“Sarah Atwood is the first to pay for it,” Beth barely gets a word in edgewise.

“My brother is the guy who ordered this, and I’m proof of what he’s willing to do to prevent anyone from dealing with it.”

As Beth heals, the cowboys also recover. Teeter settles down at the 6666 Ranch, Ryan (Ian Bohen) pursues and confesses his love to Abby (Lainey Wilson), and Rip makes one final visit to Yellowstone.

The ranch is empty and deserted, but there is a feeling of peace. The Yellowstone sign is removed and Rip closes the barn door one last time.

“We thought you wanted this,” Rip says to Kayce on the way out.

“I think… I’m going to start my own brand,” Kayce decides before him.

In a final scene, Rainwater looks over the ranch and a tear wells up in his eye.

Beth and Rip start a new life. (Stan)

Generations of blood have led to this. Just as the prophecies predicted, the land was finally returned.

Where are Beth and Rip? They set up in Dillon with no airport or tourists in sight.

“You seem happy,” Beth says to her husband.

“I’m happy,” he replies.

What an incredible journey it was and one we will never forget.

We hope there is a spin-off with Beth and Rip in the near future!
