‘A buddy ’til the end’: Pros react to Cub Swanson’s stunning knockout at UFC Tampa

That was the prevailing sentiment on social media after longtime featherweight contender confidently knocked out Billy Quarantillo in the main event of UFC Tampa. Swanson and Quarantillo had already thrilled the Florida crowd with two rounds of back-and-forth action on the feet, but “Killer Cub” put the exclamation point on the entertaining affair with a 1-2 punch combination that took down Quarantillo to set for the count.

MMA stars from across the board praised Swanson, including UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis, lightweight star Dustin Poirier and former “BMF” titleholder Jorge Masvidal.

It was the 15th win in 25 UFC appearances for Swanson, who also had an extensive career in World Extreme Cagefighting. He received numerous awards after the event and will likely receive another $50,000 bonus for his latest exploits.
