A Florida pizza delivery woman stabbed a pregnant customer 14 times over bad tips, police say

A delivery driver reportedly returned to a Florida motel where a couple was staying and stabbed a woman multiple times this week for leaving a $2 tip on an order, police said.

Brianna Alvelo, 22, is charged with attempted murder, residential burglary with a firearm, kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to court records. A man who allegedly accompanied Alvelo during the incident has not yet been identified.

A woman, her boyfriend and the woman’s 5-year-old daughter were staying at a Kissimmee motel to celebrate her birthday and ordered a Marco’s pizza on Sunday, according to an affidavit filed in Alvelos’ case. The affidavit is based on the woman’s interview with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Alvelo delivered the pizza, which cost about $33, and was asked to give change for a $50 bill, the affidavit said. But Alvelo didn’t have change and the woman looked for smaller bills and ended up allegedly only tipping Alvelo $2.

Some time later, the woman said she heard a loud knock on the door, the affidavit states. A man dressed all in black and a woman wearing face masks were said to have forced their way into the room as she opened the door.

The man brandished a silver revolver and told the woman’s boyfriend to go to the bathroom, the affidavit said. And the other person, presumably Alvelo, allegedly pulled out a pocket knife.

According to the affidavit, Alvelo dug into the woman’s purse and broke her daughter’s Nintendo Switch. The woman said she turned to protect her child and felt a blow to her lower back.

She then “threw her daughter on the bed and attempted to pick up her phone,” the affidavit states.

But Alvelo allegedly grabbed the phone, smashed it and “began hitting her multiple times with the knife.” The man who had the gun then yelled it was time to go and stopped the attack, the affidavit states.

The woman was stabbed 14 times and suffered injuries to her chest, arms, legs and stomach. She found out she was pregnant while being treated at a local hospital, the affidavit said.

Alvelo is being held in the Osceola County Jail on $55,000 bail and no attorney is listed for her.

NBC South Florida reported that prosecutors have requested that she be held without bail pending her court appearance, stating that it is a “life-sentencing misdemeanor.”

Investigators reviewed motel surveillance camera footage that showed a woman parking a red Toyota and approaching the couple’s motel room around 10 p.m. The interaction appeared to be consistent with the woman’s account of the delivery incident, the affidavit states.

Security footage then shows a red Toyota in the parking lot and two people wearing face masks returning to the couple’s room about an hour and a half later, the affidavit said.

A manager at the Marco’s Pizza location confirmed to investigators that Alvelo was working the night of the incident and that she was driving a red Toyota Camry. He also gave police a copy of her time card, confirming that she had finished her shift that evening at 10:20 p.m.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 423-8477.
