The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a high wind warning for several counties in New York effective Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.

Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie and Genesee Counties: Sunday 10:00 p.m. to Monday 4:00 p.m.
Chautauqua and Southern Erie Counties: 4:00 p.m. Sunday to 4:00 p.m. Monday.
Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
The strongest winds are expected near the Lake Erie shoreline and higher elevations.
Trees and power lines are likely to be downed, resulting in isolated power outages.
Driving is dangerous, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Residents should avoid spending time outdoors near trees and wooded areas and stay on the lower floors of their homes during the storm.

Wind warning issued in Rochester, New York

A wind advisory is in effect for the Rochester area Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour expected.

According to the weather service, residents are urged to secure loose items outdoors and exercise caution when traveling during this time.
