The fire was reported just after 10 a.m. at 90 Sargent Road. By 11 a.m. the fire had grown to three alarms. Firefighters could be seen from Sky 5 on the slate roof putting out the fire in the large Georgian colonial building, while visible flames and thick black smoke billowed from the chimneys and soffits. The Brookline fire chief said all residents got out safely and no firefighters were injured. The home sustained significant damage, including water damage, but it is too early to tell if it is a total loss. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. The home was built in 1928 and has 12,800 square feet of living space, including six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
