A “serious injury” crash has all westbound lanes of SR 520 blocked in Seattle

All lanes are currently blocked following a multi-vehicle accident on westbound SR520 at Montlake Blvd in Seattle.

The Washington State Department of Transportation initially reported the collision at 6:14 p.m

At 7:06 p.m., Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson posted on X that traffic was being rerouted due to the accident. Johnson also noted that the incident was a “serious injury collision.”

There is currently no estimated time for reopening. WSDOT encourages all drivers to use alternate routes. Traffic will be diverted to Montlake Blvd and Lake Washington Blvd.

Traffic cameras along Montlake Blvd showed the accident that caused the traffic stop. It is currently unknown what led to the accident and whether anyone was injured as a result.

According to the traffic camera images, several cars were involved in the collision.

According to WSDOT, Incident Response, State Patrol and Fire are on scene. WSDOT said crews were working to clear traffic.
