Aaron Jones, Sr. scores 50th rushing TD as the Vikings topple the Bears 30-12

The Vikings didn’t rely on explosive plays, the longest being a 21-yard catch by Justin Jefferson, but still found ways to be effective offensively.

Hockenson noted that they adjusted to the Bears defense differently this time than they did in Week 12.

“They played a lot of 3-carry in the first game… and this week they played a lot of 2-carry to keep us in front,” he explained. “And you know, when they do that, we have to do a little bit of pondering to get our looks.

“Of course, every week we see things that are different than what we explore or see on tape,” Hockenson added. “There are just so many high-performing guys and guys to keep an eye on with JA (Jordan Addison), Jets (Jefferson), myself, Aaron and Speedy (Jalen Nailor). We have a lot of guys that can go out there and make plays, and that’s tough on the defense.”

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell also commented on the response to Chicago’s defense, particularly in the run game.

“We added a lot of five-DB groupings to the 12 staff groupings,” he said. “It was a night where we were able to score a few runs.

“Believe them,” O’Connell added. “They are physical. It’s a good defense. There are a lot of talented players there.”
