AC Milan vs AS Roma: Lineups and match thread

Even though today’s round of 16 game against AC Milan is not the official half-time of the season, but the last league game of the calendar year, it will still serve as an assessment point for Roma. After a disastrous start to the season, which included two coaching dismissals, Roma are now showing signs of life under Claudio Ranieri. Life under Sir Claudio got off to a bit of a rocky start, although the schedule was quite difficult, but the Giallorossi are making good progress towards the end of 2024.

Roma took advantage of a rather weak spot in their schedule and won four of their last five games in all competitions, and did so in spectacular fashion. Starting with their 4-1 win over Lecce on December 7, the Giallorossi have scored plenty of goals, defeating Braga, Sampdoria and Parma by an aggregate score of 12-1.

Of course, in between all those goals there was a miserable 2-0 defeat against Como, so Roma aren’t quite on the right track yet, but the trend is in the right direction. Today’s opponent, AC Milan, doesn’t exactly split the table, but will give Roma strong competition.
