Actor Nargis Fakhri’s sister arrested for New York double murder

‘Rock starAliya Fakhri, the sister of famous actor Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested for allegedly murdering her ex-boyfriend and his boyfriend in Queens, New York. Aliya, 43, is alleged to have set fire to a two-story garage, resulting in the deaths of Edward Jacobs, 35, and Anastasia Ettienne, 33.

Aliya Fakhri arrived at the garage early on the morning of November 2nd and shouted to Jacobs, who lived upstairs, “You’re all going to die today.” A witness came out, heard her voice and discovered that the building had been set on fire said District Attorney Melinda Katz.

Jacobs was asleep during the incident. When alerted, Ettienne came downstairs but returned to rescue Jacobs. But none of them made it out of the burning building safely.

Jacobs and Ettienne died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, Ms. Katz’s office said in a news release.

Aliya Fakhri was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder. She was also charged with arson by a grand jury. If convicted of the highest charge, she could face life in prison, the lawyer said.

The court has remanded her in custody and her next appearance is scheduled for December 9.

“As alleged in this indictment, this defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by starting a fire that trapped a man and a woman in a raging inferno. The victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries,” Ms. Katz said.

A witness at the scene also gave a disturbing account of the events. The witness recalled smelling a sweet, burning odor and said he found the couch on the stairs ablaze. They had to jump over the fire to escape the inferno. The witness said Ettienne jumped over with him but went back in to save Jacobs.

The witness described the relationship between Ms Fakhri and her ex as abusive and also said she had previously threatened to burn down Jacobs’ house.

Jacobs had separated from Ms. Fakhri about a year ago, but she couldn’t bear the rejection, his mother Janet told the New York Post. She said her son is a plumber and is working on a project to convert the garage into an apartment.

Nargis Fakhri, best known for her role in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rock starhas not yet commented on it.

Her mother said she couldn’t believe Aliya Fakhri could murder someone. Aliya, she said, was a person who cared about everyone and tried to help everyone. She also revealed that Aliya struggled with opioid addiction after a dental accident, which she said may have led to her behavior, according to multiple reports.
