Adam Schefter and Doug Gottlieb have a war of words about X

Doug Gottlieb doesn’t think Adam Schefter is doing a good job reporting a potential news story. Schefter also doesn’t believe Gottlieb is doing his job particularly well.

On Monday evening, both men took to X (formerly Twitter) to air their grievances.

Schefter reported that Sacramento State is looking for NFL star Michael Vick to be its next football coach. In his report, Schefter said Sacramento State has $50 million in zero funds — which is disputed. Gottlieb is also one of the skeptics.

Schefter responded with two posts. The first defended his reporting.

“The SAC-12, which leads the school’s NIL efforts, has already announced that it has met its original goal of raising $50 million in NIL funding to support the school’s case for an invitation to the PAC-12 or Mountain West Conference.”

Gottlieb stood behind his skepticism, saying, “I need to raise money for a stadium, coaches and then NIL. To say it’s $50 million in zero is disingenuous.”

But Schefter’s harsher reaction came later.

Gottlieb is also in his first year as Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball coach. The Phoenix struggled early in the season – something Schefter was keen to point out.
