WASHINGTON – The Sharks are starting to believe.

That’s the feeling you’ll get from a 2-1 overtime win against one of the best teams in the East, the Washington Capitals, who are actually No. 1 in scoring.

“It’s a huge confidence boost – not just the results but also the game we play. “We can play against any team in this league,” said reserve captain Mikael Granlund.

Tyler Toffoli and William Eklund scored a thrilling win.

If we’re honest, the Sharks were poor for much of the first half, and it was Mackenzie Blackwood’s 16 saves that gave them an unlikely 1-0 lead early in the first frame.

But San Jose found its footing and was able to withstand the onslaught and keep up with Washington. They actually outscored the Capitals 23-12 after the first period. In addition, the home team was well rested with their last game on November 30th.
