Aggies will host in-state Foe Utah Tech on Saturday

• Utah State is off to an 8-0 start for the fourth time in program history. Head coach Jerrod Calhoun is the second coach to win each of his first eight games at Utah State, joining Ladell Anderson, who began the 1961-62 season with eight straight wins. With another win, Calhoun will be off to the best coaching start in program history.

• The Aggies have opened a season 9-0 only twice (1917-18, 2022-23). A win on Saturday would secure this team’s best start in program history.

• USU is one of just nine remaining undefeated teams in college basketball and is currently 8-0. Of the undefeated teams, only four played with a stronger schedule than the Aggies, according to Massey ratings.

• In Utah State University’s win over Wyoming, graduate guard Ian Martínez scored the 1,000th point of his college career. The former Utah Ute and Maryland Terrapin scored over half of those points in an Aggie uniform.

• USU head coach Jerrod Calhoun also reached a major career milestone by defeating Wyoming, earning his 250th win as a head coach. In his 13th season, he is now 250-144.

• Utah State receives votes in both the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls. The team spent 17 weeks ranked last season and climbed as high as No. 16 in the AP poll.

• Martinez currently leads the Mountain West in points (19.1), free throw percentage (93.2), free throws made (55) and 3-point percentage (45.5). Sophomore guard Mason Falslev ranks sixth in the league with 17.3 points per contest.

• In the inaugural NCAA Men’s Basketball NET Rankings released earlier this week, Utah State debuted at No. 14. This was the team’s highest ranking in the NET since Dec. 22, 2022. Most recently, USU was No .21 in the NET.

• This is only the second regular season meeting ever between Utah State and Utah Tech. The previous game was an 86-81 Aggie win in Logan on December 1, 2022.

• All-time against in-state opponents, Utah State is 260-303 (.462).
