Alabama transfer quarterback announces his commitment to the ACC program

Dylan Lonergan, the only Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback to enter the transfer portal to this point in the cycle, has now made an official decision on where he will play next season, choosing the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday night .

This commitment to Boston College reunites Lonergan with former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who will begin his second season as the Eagles’ head coach in 2025.

Lonergan, a four-star prospect in Alabama’s 2023 class, was a backup to Jalen Milroe during his two seasons in Tuscaloosa, where he finished third on the depth chart behind Ty Simpson. During this period, Lonergan actually saw action, completing 7 of 8 passes for 35 yards and also rushing for 21 yards on two attempts.

With Lonergan committing to Boston College, Alabama’s 2025 quarterback room currently features Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell as of this writing.
