Despite landing at No. 11 in the rankings as of Tuesday night, the Crimson Tide simply couldn’t secure a spot in the College Football Playoff, marking a bitter end for head coach Kalen DeBoer to a checkered debut season that featured some truly devastating defeats away (40-35 at Vanderbilt and 24-3 at Oklahoma) Both DeBoer and athletic director Greg Byrne made solid suggestions for the Tide’s inclusion, but while In the Selection Show on Sunday, the CFP committee set the final rankings for the 12-team playoffs, leaving Alabama off the list.
