All Netflix wanted for Christmas is Mariah Carey, and they got her

On Thursday (December 12), Netflix announced that Mariah Carey will kick off the NFL Christmas Day festivities with a performance of her hit holiday single “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

“This Christmas we will all get our wish,” said Carey in the promo teaser. “The NFL is live on Netflix and I’ll be there too.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of their historic album. Merry Christmasand the aforementioned breakout single.

It was previously announced that Beyoncé will headline the halftime show during the Ravens/Texans game. This performance will be live.

TMZ Sports reported that the NFL had extended its allotted time from the standard 12 minutes to 20 minutes, but Bey’s team denied the claim. However, Netflix confirmed that Bey’s halftime show will be “the first live performance of songs from her genre-bending and record-breaking COWBOY CARTER album.” She will also bring special guests who were part of the album.

In the first teaser, Bey used the lyrics from “AMERICAN REQUIEM” to make her point. “There’s a lot of chatter going on here/But let me clarify/Can you hear me?” she explained.

The streamer will broadcast the NFL’s two biggest Christmas games, with the Super Bow LVIII champion Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1:00 p.m. ET and the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET. The games will also be broadcast on CBS partner channels in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Houston, as well as on US mobile devices via NFL+.
