ORLANDO — An Amber Alert for a missing Central Florida boy has been lifted after he was found safe, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The warning was for 5-year-old Jace Saunders of Tavares in Lake County. The agency said he may have been traveling in a black Honda Accord accompanied by his grandmother, 50-year-old Kelly Day-DaSilva.

Police said the boy and his grandmother disappeared during an investigation by the Department of Children and Families. They asked anyone who spotted Day-DaSilva or the child not to approach her and not to contact law enforcement.

In order for an Amber Alert to be issued, the situation must meet certain criteria.

The child must be under 18 years old. Law enforcement authorities must reasonably believe that an abduction has occurred and the child is in “imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm.”
