Andrews sets Ravens record, Bateman scores 49-yard TD against Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Baltimore Ravens are off to a strong start and quarterback Lamar Jackson is off to a perfect start.

Jackson threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to wide-open receiver Rashod Bateman, who caught the deep pass at the 10-yard line and outsmarted two New York Giants defenders to reach the end zone. After taking a 14-0 lead in the second quarter, Jackson has a perfect passer rating of 158.3 and completed all seven passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

This was Bateman’s sixth touchdown of the season, trailing only Mark Andrews on the team. Bateman had a total of four touchdown catches in his first three seasons.

Andrews gave the Ravens an early lead and also made franchise history.

On third-and-goal, Andrews caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jackson with 3:18 left in the first quarter. It was Andrews’ 48th career touchdown, surpassing running back Jamal Lewis for the most touchdown in Ravens history.

Andrews celebrated by pointing at Jackson and then jabbing him in the chest.

His record came after the toughest start of his seven-year career. He didn’t have a touchdown catch in his first five games. But Andrews has now found the end zone eight times in his last nine games.
