Announcements and trailers for the Game Awards 2024

The Game Awards 2024 Announcements There was a lot of variety, from Pac-Man horror to a new Naughty Dog game to a few surprise revivals. It was a packed three hours, with a few big reveals even taking place during the TGA pre-show, along with the actual awards of course, which were often overlooked as usual. Elden Ring made an appearance, and you know it was quite a show at all The isn’t the biggest thing that happened.

Below we’ve summarized all the big announcements for the 2024 Game Awards and linked to individual stories with more detailed information where applicable.

Publishers simply continue to mine the past for new games, and in this case that seems to be a good thing. Ninja Gaiden is coming back and it looks fabulous.

Pac-Man isn’t technically part of the name, but the addition makes things both simpler and more confusing. They are the instruments of Pac-Man’s will as he attempts to escape the eponymous labyrinth by possessing an explorer. It’s a lot! It looks like a pretty good Metroidvania too.

Dave the diver isn’t done diving yet. Mintrocket sends him into the jungle this time and it looks pretty nice.

What if Rocket League, but arcade soccer? That’s the idea behind Rematch by Sloclap. If you want to know more, you can check out our rematch preview.

Immediately after the announcement of The Witcher 4 – definitely not The Witcher 4 before, but now officially The Witcher 4. CDPR, please – CD Projekt Red showed off the first Witcher 4 trailer, which you can see for yourself by clicking on the conveniently placed one Button click link in this sentence.

Pursuing The Witcher 4 is a daunting task, and one of the only things that hasn’t been completely overshadowed is Elden Ring. Lo and behold, that’s exactly what came next: Elden Ring Nightreign, a multiplayer spinoff.

Fumito Ueda, maker of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, is working on a new game. Right now it’s so conceptual that it doesn’t even have a name.

FF7 Rebirth’s PC release date is just a few weeks away.

Obsidian has been working hard on The Outer Worlds 2 for some time now, but development appears to be progressing quite well. The Outer Worlds 2 will be released in 2025. Yes, with Avowed that’s two Obsidian games in one year.

Josef Fares and Hazelight, the studio behind It Takes Two, have a new game in the works – Split Fiction. It’s a mix of set design ideas, and you can check out the Split Fiction trailer for yourself in our separate Split Fiction article about it.

Randy Pitchford kind of ruined the surprise for this game by tweeting that Borderlands 4 was coming out, but still. It certainly looks like what you would expect from Borderlands 4.

More Splitgate 2! Which is always a good thing.

The folks at World of Tanks have another game in store and it’s called Steel Hunters. Beta testing will begin soon.

This one got a little lost between announcements, but it’s definitely worth a look.

There’s a new Virtua Fighter game in the works, and it’s not actually a remake of Virtua Fighter 5. What a concept! Yakuza maker RGG Studio is working on this game, which may or may not end up being called Virtua Fighter 6.

RGG is also developing Project Century, a slick, violent journey into historical Japan for…reasons. There isn’t much information about it yet, but it looks promising.

Dino hunting is back on the menu, folks.

Arrowhead surprisingly dropped Helldivers 2’s Omens of Tyranny expansion during the show, a new set of challenges, enemies and planets to die on. It looks wonderful.

Digital Extremes stopped by to casually announce that Warframe 1999 is coming out on December 13, 2024, along with an awesome new trailer.

Palworld is getting bigger, with the Palworld Feybreak update presumably including a new region and more Pals like the Sakurajima update did, although the trailer spent most of its time showing a player doing cute things with shoots with an assault rifle.

Clive literally sets Tekken 8 on fire as he transforms into Ifrit and sets his enemies on fire. And you don’t have to wait long to see him in action.

Capcom is properly bringing Onimusha back after a few spin-offs and far too many years of silence. It’s called Onimusha: Way of the Sword, but it won’t be out for a while.

One might think that Arad: Dungeon and Fighter is some kind of spin-off of Genshin Impact. Nexon Korea’s debut trailer leans heavily into HoYoverse’s open-world aesthetic, from a city that closely resembles Mondstadt to a tavern that’s awfully similar to The Cat’s Tail. Still, at least it’s lively and colorful.

Techland is back with another Dying Light: The Beast trailer and a release frame for summer 2025. The beast looks more intense and, better yet, more varied than the city limits of Dying Light 2.

Stage Fright is a co-op game from the Overcooked developers, but what you actually do is still a mystery.

If you want a GoT mobile game, then Game of Thrones Kingsroad is for you.

The Last of Us 2 on PC is underway, but you’ll still have to wait a while for the release date.

That’s certainly a name.

It exists, and that’s basically all this trailer has to tell us.

2K has jumped in with a cinematic look at Mafia: The Old Country, and it’s shaping up quite well.

Hideki Kamiya finally gets to make his long-awaited sequel: Okami 2. Let’s hope he gets the same freedom for Viewtiful Joe 3 at some point.

Netflix makes Squid Game Unleashed free! But not for long.

Dispatch is an animated role-playing game with messy relationships and a talking dog and Laura Bailey.

Crimson Desert is getting closer and closer to a release date, but we’ll have to settle for a vague “late 2025” for now.

The final reveal during the show was the new Naughty Dog game Intergalactic.

And that’s all the announcements for The Game Awards 2024, but if you’re not quite ready for the awards season to end, check out our Alternative Game Awards 2024 for a little fun.
