Another dry, windy day with clouds and showers on Thursday

Strong Santa Ana winds have hit San Diego County hard over the past 24 hours. The strongest wind gust hit Sill Hill between Julian and Alpine at 95 miles per hour. This is always one of the windiest places when Santa Ana winds arise.

Other notable wind gusts:
East Willows in Alpine at 72 mph
Santa Ysabel at Julian 72 mph
Rancho Bernardo 51 mph
Carlsbad 30 miles per hour

While the worst of the Santa Ana winds have passed, gusty and dry conditions will continue today. Expect sustained winds from the east and northeast between 5 and 15 mph and gusts of 30 mph. Humidity will remain low, between 5 and 15%, and with brush dry due to the lack of rain, the risk of fire remains elevated. Humidity will recover by Thursday as sea breezes return.

Today will be partly to mostly cloudy. A line of storms will pass north of us, bringing locally increased clouds and a slight chance of rain Thursday evening. Friday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, and another storm passing to the north will bring more clouds this weekend, although rain is not likely.

It will be cooler Thursday and Friday and a little warmer heading into the weekend, but overall temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s across most of the county and the 50s in the mountains.

On Sunday we could see another round of Santa Ana winds that could dry things out and bring strong winds back to the eastern half of the county.

Highs from Wednesday:
Coast: 67-72°
Inland: 74-77°
Mountains: 58-68°
Deserts: 66-69°
