Anthony Edwards calls out Luka Doncic after the turnover call

Even though the Dallas Mavericks didn’t play on Wednesday night, Luka Doncic was still the center of others’ attention. The Minnesota Timberwolves played the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, and after superstar Anthony Edwards was called for a carry, he tried to argue that it was a bad call.

“Luka (Doncic) does everything, and you’re going to come after me?” Edwards couldn’t believe the carry call and decided to use Doncic as an example for the official.

The Timberwolves still defeated the Clippers 108-80 and reached a game over .500. They haven’t had a great start to the season after trading Karl-Anthony Towns for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo and are currently 11th in the Western Conference standings.

Dallas defeated the Timberwolves in just five games in the Western Conference Finals last year. Edwards called Kyrie Irving before the series and quickly learned that was a bad idea as Irving averaged 27 PPG in that series. Edwards even admitted in a Netflix special that calling Irving was a mistake.

This isn’t the first time Edwards has mentioned Doncic’s name either. Towards the end of the 2022-23 season, Edwards said he was learning how to improve his shooting technique by slowing down. “I sometimes try to speed up my shot when I see it’s hard fought, but I still manage to get it away in time. I have to learn to keep my composure. A bit like how (Dallas guard) Luka Doncic never rushes his shot, no matter how tight the defense is, I only learned that over time.
