Apple Music Replay is here! When will Spotify Wrapped be released?

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, the time when you can show off your superior musical taste to all your friends and family.

That’s right: Spotify, the popular music streaming platform, will soon release Spotify Wrapped – your personalized listening history from 2024, “wrapped” in a series of Instagram-worthy graphics. Last week, the music platform even teased the release, letting listeners know that the recap was on the way.

But when will Spotify Wrapped be released this year after Apple Music Replay dropped on Tuesday?

Here’s everything you need to know about viral campaigns.

When will Spotify Wrapped 2024 be released?

The platform has not yet announced when it plans to release Spotify Wrapped 2024. There were rumors that the recaps would be released on December 4th at 10am ET, but that has not been confirmed.

In any case, Spotify appears to be releasing the feature a little later this year. Check out the dates the platform has posted Wrapped over the past few years below.

Spotify Wrapped 2023 was released on November 29th.
In 2022, Spotify Wrapped was released on November 30th.
In 2021 and 2020, Spotify Wrapped was released on December 1st.

Update your Spotify app!

While the platform hasn’t announced a date yet, it has urged listeners to make sure their apps are updated. Users with outdated Spotify apps may miss out on the full 2024 Wrapped experience.

To update your app, simply do the following:

Search for Spotify in your app store.
If you need an update, you have the option to click the Update button.
Click on it and everything will be fine.

Does Spotify Wrapped include listening data from January to December?

Despite rumors that Spotify Wrapped only collects data from January 1st to October 31st, the platform recently confirmed that the roundup actually tracks listening data beyond Halloween.

After social media users joked that their time to manipulate their listening data would end on October 31, the audio streamer on .” Stop counting on October 31st.

The platform hasn’t confirmed when exactly it will stop collecting listener data for Wrapped this year, but we know it will be after at least October 31st.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

The idea behind Spotify Wrapped originated in 2015, when the wildly popular music platform released its Year in Music feature, allowing users to see which artists they listened to the most in the last 365 days. The Year in Music campaign shared much of the same data as Spotify Wrapped, including listeners’ most played songs and how many hours of music they listened to in total.

The following year, however, the feature received a major facelift, complete with a new name, “Spotify Wrapped.” The marketing campaign seems to be getting more viral every year as Spotify improves its graphic design and data personalization.

In 2018, Spotify included data about the astrological signs of the artists a user listened to the most during the year. In 2019, Spotify Wrapped introduced an Instagram Stories format that allows users to easily share (or showcase) their carefully curated listening history on their social media Stories. In 2020, the platform included podcast listening data.

Last year’s Spotify Wrapped assigned listeners a “Sound Town” – assigning users a city that matched their favorite genres and artists.

Only time will tell what new, quirky data will appear as part of users’ Spotify Wrapped portfolios in 2024.

What is Apple Music’s year-end feature?

Apple Music Replay 2024 will be released on Tuesday, December 3rd.

In 2022, Apple Music announced its version of Spotify’s year-end campaign called Apple Music Replay. Apple’s feature includes much of the same listening data as Spotify’s, including a user’s top songs, top albums, top artists and top genres from throughout the year.

Apple Music Replay works a little differently than Spotify Wrapped. Starting this year, Replay Experiences will be released monthly, highlighting a user’s listening habits at the end of each month.

Apple Music users can access their Replay by finding the Listen Now tab in the app, scrolling to the Replay section, tapping the Replay ’24 playlist, then clicking the plus button in the top right. After that, Apple Music users will be able to view their Replay ’24 in the Playlists section of their library throughout the year.

Similar to Spotify, Apple Music users are also getting a large Replay ’24 recap intended for sharing on social media, which was released on Tuesday.
