1ST QUARTER

GAME START: We are on the way. ED White takes the first kickoff through the back of the end zone and Shaw starts with the ball at the 20 yard line.

Today will be historic in one way or another. ED White is seeking its first state championship since 1969 and Archbishop Shaw is seeking its first since 1987.

Shaw managed a good drive despite senior quarterback Mason Wilson’s two fumbles on the first possession, but a botched third-down conversion led to an Eagles punt. ED White will start on his own 11-yard line.

TOUCHDOWN ED WHITE! The Cardinals put together an eight-play, 89-yard drive capped by a tush-push touchdown from quarterback Grant Barbera. ED White leads 7:0, 4:13 Q1.

Shaw tried on 4th-and-6, but Mason Wilson was surrounded by the Cardinals defense and sacked. White takes over at 45.

White tried 4th-and-1 and got the required distance against a Barbera keeper.

END OF 1ST: ED White 7, Archbishop Shaw 0

2ND QUARTER

ED White went for a long field goal, but it was blocked by the Eagles’ defense and returned for a short win. Trystan Evans was credited with the block.

TOUCHDOWN ARCHBISHOP SHAW! Mason Wilson breaks off a great run and takes it 21 yards to the house for his 10th rushing TD of the season. That was a nine-play, 80-yard drive. This game is tied 7-7, 6:14 Q2.

TOUCHDOWN ED WHITE! Carter Douglas hits the ball from one yard out, marking another strong seven-play, 80-yard drive for the Cardinals. White leads 14-7 with 4:04 remaining in the half.

Shaw built some momentum, but the drive faded. The Eagles had a good punt and ED White will take the lead at their 25 yard line with 2:24 until halftime.

White punts and Shaw has 49 seconds to add a few more points before the end of the first half.

TOUCHDOWN ARCHBISHOP SHAW! A broken coverage leads to a wide open receiver and Wilson hits Michigan signee Jacob Washington. Washington failed to make the catch, but managed to hold on for the game-winning touchdown (video below, bottom right) with seven seconds left in the half. This game is tied 14-14.

Wilson finished the first half with 151 yards from scrimmage and two total touchdowns. Washington managed 95 yards and touchdowns on seven catches. ED White ran the ball 27 times for 163 yards and two scores.

3RD QUARTER

Shaw needed two kickoffs to start the second half after committing a false start on his first attempt. ED White starts with the ball on the 24th.

The Cardinals were unable to get anything going, leading to a quick punt. Shaw starts on his own after a 64-yard punt from Ty Powell.

There was a lot of action in the third quarter, but neither team was able to break the deadlock.

END OF 3RD: ED White 14, Archbishop Shaw 14

4TH QUARTER

White begins the fourth quarter with the ball at his 45-yard line.

FIELD GOAL WHITE! The Cardinals regain the lead with a 27-yard field goal from Ty Powell. White leads 17:14 with 9:22 minutes to play.

TOUCHDOWN ARCHBISHOP SHAW! Mighican freshman Jasper Parker makes some blocks and takes it 62 yards to the house to give the Eagles the lead. Shaw leads 21-17, 8:59 Q4.

ED WHITE FUMBLE! White attempted a pitch, but the throw came behind the runner and the Shaw defense recovered inside the red zone.

TOUCHDOWN ARCHBISHOP SHAW! Wilson and Washington once again combine a potentially game-changing play. Shaw leads 28-17 with 7:29 to go.

TOUCHDOWN ED WHITE! White put in a good performance but wasn’t happy with third-and-goal. Jonathan Lee broke the plane on a 4th-and-3 to keep the Cardinals’ hopes alive, and Ben Guidry stormed into the end zone on the 2-point conversion. This drive was 11 plays, 80 yards, and lasted 3:36 minutes. White leads 28-25 with 3:53 left.

Shaw marches down the field and ED White is forced to burn his first of three timeouts to stop the clock with 2:17 left.

Jasper Parker picks up another first down and effectively puts an end to this one to cap off an exciting fourth quarter and an all-around great game.
