Arctic air on the move

Arctic air will move into Wisconsin over the next 36 hours. Temperatures will start in the 20s and near 30 degrees on the lakeshore. A strong cold front will pass this afternoon, causing isolated snow showers and a sharp drop in temperature. Highs will reach the upper 20s to near 30 degrees before dropping.

The minimum temperatures at night are close to and just below zero degrees. Gusty northwesterly winds will produce wind chills approaching -20° in places.

Highs on Thursday will only reach into the teens. Wind chills may remain below zero in the afternoon.

Luckily, the dangerous cold only lasts a day. The southerly winds will increase again by the weekend. Highs will jump into the low 30s on Friday and into the 40s over the weekend.

Storm Team 4 is monitoring a low pressure area that will move in from the south on Saturday. A wintry mix early this morning will give way to rain showers as temperatures rise.
