Army’s Jeff Monken, Bryson Daily, honored with top AAC honors, 12 league All-Stars

Army football has made a significant impact on the American Athletic Conference in its first season as a member.

The Black Knights took an 8-0 lead in league play to secure home-field advantage heading into Friday’s AAC title game against Tulane (8 p.m. ET, ABC). On Monday, Jeff Monken was named Coach of the Year, senior quarterback Bryson Daily was named AAC Offensive Player of the Year and a total of 12 Black Knights were selected to the all-conference squad.

Four Army players were named to the AAC first team: Daily; center Brady Small; left guard Bill Katsigiannis; and safety Max DiDomenico.

The second team’s choice is to tackle Connor Finucane; right tackle Lucas Scott; right guard Paolo Gennarelli; running back Kanye Udoh; and defensive end Kyle Lewis.

Linebackers Andon Thomas and Elo Modozie were named to the third team. Linebacker Kalib Fortner received honorable mention.

Daily broke numerous program records for Army. He scored a record 25 touchdowns in a season, including a record five rushing scores against East Carolina on October 19, and added a passing touchdown to match the 1916 total mark. He still needs a rushing score to reach the AAC single-season mark. Daily rushed for 100 yards in nine consecutive games this season, breaking Mike Mayweather’s record of eight games set in 1990.

Daily currently leads the AAC with 1,354 rushing yards, rushing yards per game (135.4), rushing touchdowns and total points (150 points).
