Arnold Schwarzenegger is barely recognizable dressed as Santa Claus for the new film

Arnold Schwarzenegger dressed up as a barely recognizable Santa Claus for his latest role in his first Christmas movie in nearly three decades.

When the 77-year-old Austrian actor first appeared on the set of The Man with the Bag, he hid his handsome face and extraordinary physique under a white beard, facial prosthetics and a baggy Christmas sweater.

For the scene, he wore a white crew-neck sweater, a red pickup truck with a Christmas tree in the back, and brown corduroy pants.

He later donned a long red coat that perfectly matched Kris Kringle’s attire as he spread Christmas cheer throughout Manhattan.

Although he is best known for his roles in many action films such as Terminator, he previously appeared in the 1996 family Christmas comedy as a workaholic father whose mission was to get his son a sold-out action figure, which led to that he learned the true meaning of Christmas.

The former California governor, who recently became a grandfather for the third time, joins a long list of actors who have played Jolly Old St. Nicholas, including Ben Affleck, Tim Allen, Billy Bob Thornton and Kurt Russell.

It was announced back in March that the Hollywood legend would star in another Christmas comedy.

Adam Shankman is directing the Amazon MGM Studios film from a screenplay by Allan Rice.

The plot goes: “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he resorts to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back.”

“Along with his daughter, Santa Claus, and a group of misfit elves, Vance must pull off the biggest heist of his life to save Christmas.”

It’s the first time Arnie has appeared in a marquee film since 1996’s Jingle All The Way.

And it will be his first film role ever since Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019.

This year he shot the film “Kung Fury 2”, but it was not released for legal reasons.

And he was featured in his documentary for Netflix last year.

The three-part documentaries followed Schwarzenegger’s multi-faceted life and career, from bodybuilding champion to Hollywood icon to politician.

Arnie played the title character in the Terminator franchise, but admitted last year that he was “done” with the films.

Maria Shriver’s ex added that he thinks the future of the series should be passed on to other stars.

At the time, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter: “The franchise isn’t done yet. “I’m done.

“I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on to a different theme when it comes to ‘Terminator.’ Someone must have a great idea.”

Arnie explained that he will always have fond memories of the franchise that made him a true leading man.

He said: “The Terminator was largely responsible for my success, so I always loved watching it.”

In addition to his acting career, he is the father of five children: daughters Katherine (35) and Christina (31) as well as sons Patrick (31) and Christopher (27) and Joseph (27).

He shares all of his children with Shriver, except Joseph, whose mother is Mildred Patricia Baena, his longtime housekeeper.
