“They traded our heroes for overpaid actors who can’t even fill their shoes,” she sings.

Ashley McBryde longs for society to embrace cowboy values and traditions in her recently released song “Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs.”

“Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs” was written by McBryde with Chris Harris and Patrick Savage and produced by John Osborne. It begins with the hum of a violin, setting the tone for a song that is as country as country can be both sonically and lyrically.

McBryde’s stunning vocals join in as she delivers the first verse about the loss of the true American hero and how society has traded these heroes of the West for flashy Hollywood elites.

“The horse I was riding was put out to pasture. And one day they will take me there too. They traded our heroes for overpaid actors. Who can’t even fill their boots,” she sings.

In the chorus, the Arkansas native conveys a sense of longing for something missing from life and shares a desire for deeper meaning and reconnection in an ever-changing world, saying, “I’d like to ride off into the sunset/But there is.” no wild west, no prairie to roam. Or a place high enough to get far enough away. There aren’t enough cowboy songs.”

In a recent interview with Cowboys & Indians, McBryde summed it up: “This was about where we live and the genre we love and realizing that the horse I was riding had been put out to pasture .” Instead of saying, “Work ethic is out the window, compliance is all but dead, and idealism is gone,” it was easier to express this by saying that there is no Wild West. That’s all gone.”

“Ain’t Enough Cowboy Songs” was released shortly before McBryde heads to Las Vegas, where she will join 23-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world champion roper Jackie Crawford for a question-and-answer session at the Ariat Brand Shop in Las Vegas will meet Thursday, December 12th, followed by an acoustic performance.

The following day, McBryde will take the stage with Cody Johnson at the MGM Grand Garden Arena before joining him on his Leather Deluxe Tour in 2025, along with festival appearances at Stagecoach, Country Thunder Arizona, Country Thunder Florida, Country Thunder Wisconsin and more.

McBryde shared her excitement about touring with Johnson in 2025, telling Cowboys & Indians: “Touring is a kind of gamble. But when someone shakes your hand, looks straight at you and knows your name, that’s nice. Our bands and crews are both. And I’m really excited to play for Cody’s fans because they are not only consumers of what’s hot, but also fans of what’s good.”
