Australia will play an additional Test in the Windies next year after Joseph’s heroics

“To be honest, for me the two-Test match series is a joke. At least three,” Ambrose told reporters earlier this year. “Australia won the first Test, the West Indies came back and won the second, and a third Test would have been massive.” That would round off the series perfectly. But it didn’t happen.”

Australian coach Andrew McDonald and CA boss Nick Hockley have expressed their desire for future Test series to be played at least three matches.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has not announced dates for the tour, but according to two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak about the tour, two sources said the first Test of the series will take place on April 25. June is scheduled to begin in Barbados. Grenada and Jamaica have been discussed as likely venues for a tour expected to last about a month.

There is also the possibility that one of the games could be a pink ball game, which would be more attractive to Australian broadcasters given the time zone.

Australia have not played a three-match Test series in the West Indies since 2012. The last time a four-match Test series between Australia and the Windies took place in the Caribbean was in 2003 when Steve Waugh was captain.

The West Indies’ performances last summer will give them renewed hope of beating Australia in a Test series at home for the first time since 1991.

Joseph’s exploits in Australia last summer helped revitalize the West Indies after the fast bowler scored a five-wicket haul on his debut at the Adelaide Oval.

He backed this up with a famous second-innings haul of 7-68 in Brisbane, leading the tourists to an eight-run win.

Australia’s games against the West Indies will be the first of a new World Test Championship cycle. South Africa’s recent success has put Australia in danger of missing out on next year’s WTC final, to be held at Lord’s from June 11-15.

Australia, third in the WTC rankings, must beat India this summer and do well in Sri Lanka to qualify.
