Barack Obama is dropping Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar in 2024

It’s that time of year: Barack Obama shares insights into his top hits of the year. On Friday, the former president released the playlist of his favorite music of 2024, including standouts from Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Shaboozey.

Some big tracks from 2025 made Obama’s cut: “Lunch” by Billie Eilish, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey, “Jump” by Tyla, “Texas Hold’Em” by Beyoncé and “Too Sweet” by Hozier.

“Here are my favorite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist — and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should definitely check out,” Obama wrote alongside his 2024 playlist.

Obama may have chosen to stay out of the Drake-Kendrick feud by not choosing “Not Like Us” as his favorite Lamar song this year, but he did choose “Squabble Up.” The former president is a longtime fan of Lamar and the two even met during his presidency. “I think Kendrick has a unique status right now, not just because of this summer, but not only is he talented, he’s (also) serious about the message,” Obama said in a DeepCut interview last month.

In hip-hop, Central Cee and Lil Baby’s “Band4Band” made the playlist, along with Jordan Adentunji’s “Kehlani” and Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby.” Karol G took the Latin music baton on Obama’s playlist thanks to “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” and arguably the biggest reggaeton track of 2024, FloyyMenor and Cris MJ’s “Gata Only,” also made the list.
