Barbra Streisand learns from “SNL” that Gracie Abrams is JJ Abrams’ daughter

Gracie Abrams has a new addition to her fandom!

On Monday, December 16, Barbra Streisand shared a photo from Gracie’s Saturday Night Live appearance on social media – and revealed that she was shocked to learn who her father was.

“I just saw a wonderful new singer named GRACIE ABRAMS (@gracieabrams) live on Saturday night this weekend,” Streisand, 82, captioned her Instagram post. “And it turns out she’s my friend JJ Abrams’ daughter!”

Gracie – whose mother is Katie McGrath – created her SNL Debuts December 14th as musical guest. She appeared twice during the episode The Secret of Us (Deluxe) Tracks – “That’s So True” and “I Love You, I’m Sorry” while Chris Rock hosted.

JJ, 58, is a filmmaker and composer who co-created the shows Lost And Alias. He also directed several star Wars Films starting with The Force Awakens. Meanwhile, her mother Katie is a former political consultant who began her career in Washington, DC and held positions at well-known companies. Today, her parents are co-CEOs of Bad Robot Productions, where they produce various TV shows and films.

In 2022, the 25-year-old “Blowing Smoke” singer told iHeartRadio Canada that it was “a privilege to even have grown up knowing what the entertainment world even looks like.”

“I think that experience growing up solidified my love and appreciation for storytelling…and influenced the fact that I did it all the time,” she continued.

However, when it came to songwriting, she kept it separate from her parents.

“I definitely kept her out of it that much. Songwriting has always been just a personal way for me to deal with my experiences without having to talk to anyone, especially my parents for many years,” Gracie said.

“Now I’m very lucky… I’m super close with them and I tell my mom everything,” she added.

In addition to her SNL Following her performance, Gracie recently rejoined Taylor Swift for the second North American leg of her Eras Tour.

Days later, the “Close to You” singer announced the dates for “The Secret of Us Deluxe Tour,” which will begin in Boston in July. The tour ends on August 26th in Mexico City.

As for Streisand, Sony Music Vision announced in September that filmmaker Frank Marshall, known for directing and producing dozens of hit films and a frequent collaborator with Steven Spielberg, would direct this new documentary series about the multi-hyphenate.

“The project offers an intimate and comprehensive exploration of every facet of the legendary multi-hyphenate, who excelled in all areas of entertainment during his six-decade career,” says a press release from Sony Music Vision. A release date has not been set.
