Barcelona beat Dortmund 3-2 in a thrilling UCL game to secure a decisive win

FC Barcelona pulled ahead late with a dramatic 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund, maintaining its unbeaten record from five straight games against Borussia Dortmund, which now stands at three wins and two draws. The win saw Catalonia move up to second place, while BVB dropped to ninth, one point behind Lille in eighth.

In the first half, the Catalans dominated the game in possession, but not in conversion. In the 15th minute, Lamine Yamal delivered an excellent cross from outside the boot to Raphinha, but the Brazilian’s shot went wide. Dortmund’s attacking performance was minimal, Marcel Sabitzer took the best chance. On the other hand, Gregor Kobel was Dortmund’s savior as he made brilliant saves to deny Yamal and Jules Koundé, ensuring all was well before half-time.

The second half of the tie came to life. Jamie Gittens thought he had given Dortmund the lead in the fifth minute when he set up Serhou Guirassy to score, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Barca punished them immediately, Raphinha converting Dani Olmo’s pullback to give them the lead away from home.

Guirassy equalized Dortmund after an hour after a foul by Pau Cubarsi. The striker confidently converted the resulting penalty, but Barça reacted quickly as substitute Ferran Torres converted after Kobel parried Fermín López’s shot to restore the lead.

Mama doubts Guirassy wasted a great opportunity to equalize and headed over from close range, but he made amends when Iñaki Peña’s ill-advised push out of goal allowed Pascal Groß to coolly finish. As Dortmund pressed for victory, Barcelona counterattacked: Yamal found Torres and he ensured he scored the decisive finish, giving the visitors a hard-fought three points. This win is important for Barcelona’s qualification hopes as it also dampens Dortmund’s ambitions in the UCL.
