Barry Keoghan has deactivated his Instagram account due to the “disgusting comments” and “absolute lies” he has received about his character and family.

“I can only take so much,” Keoghan wrote in a lengthy post. “My name has been spread across the internet in a way that I don’t normally respond to. I have to respond now because it’s gotten to the point where too many boundaries are being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer allow these things to distract me from my family and work. No one should ever have to read the messages I received. Absolute lies, hatred, vile comments about my appearance, my character, my behavior as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. I’m dragging out my character and everything I’ve worked extremely hard for and stand for.
