Batman 2 Sequel Starring Robert Pattinson Is Delayed to 2027: Why?

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman sequel tackles the toughest villain of all – writer’s block.

DC Studio co-head James Gunn confirmed on Friday that the release date of writer/director Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2, starring Pattinson, has been pushed back – now a year later – from October 2, 2026 to October 1, 2027 becomes.

Gunn cited Reeves’ meticulous search for the perfect script as the reason for delaying a Threads post.

“The only reason for the delay is that there is no complete script,” Gunn wrote. “Matt is committed to making the best film possible, and no one can predict exactly how long a script will take to write. Once there is a finished script, there are about two years left for pre-production, filming and post-production. Producing great films.”

The highly anticipated sequel to Reeves’ 2022 film starring Pattinson has already been postponed multiple times since its 2022 announcement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise’s untitled project will fill the slot on October 2, 2026 for Warner Bros.

There’s good news for Pattinson fans. The English actor’s film “Mickey 17” with filmmaker Bong Joon Ho now opens on March 7th.
