Bears players respond to chants of “Sell the Team” at Soldier Field

After a promising 4-2 start, the Chicago Bears’ season turned into a complete disaster, which included the firings of head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, and general manager Ryan Poles was also heavily criticized for the construction of this roster.

However, things reached a new low in the Bears’ prime-time game against the Seattle Seahawks, where Chicago scored a single field goal in a 6-3 loss on Thursday Night Football. It was the 10th straight loss of the season – and all in front of a loyal but full Soldier Field crowd.

Bears fans made their displeasure known as chants of “sell the team” rang out from the home crowd, a sign that they are fed up with the way this organization is run by chairman George McCaskey, who has failed to lead a winning team He hasn’t overseen a playoff game since he took over in 2011 and has hired four (failed) head coaches and three general managers.

After the game, quarterback Caleb Williams — who drew some of the few cheers of the night — was asked about the chants, and he understands the frustration.

“I was just here – this is only my first year,” Williams said. “Their frustrations go back much longer than I’ve been here. My job is to go out and win games.”

Receiver DJ Moore was asked about those frustrated chants during his Monday appearance on 670 the Score, and he understands where the fans are coming from.

“You see it, but you really can’t respond to it,” Moore said. “Because they are our fans, they love us. We’re not doing so well at the moment. I can understand your frustration. They paid good money to see us play and win games and we didn’t.”

Thursday night’s brutal defeat marked the final home game of what has been a dismal season. Now the focus shifts to a crucial offseason where the Bears still have a lot of work to do to make this team a respectable team for their fans in 2025.
