Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow believes privacy was violated after home was broken into

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow kept it short Wednesday when he addressed the media saying his home had been broken into two nights earlier when he and the Bengals played the Dallas Cowboys on the road.

“I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one,” Burrow said. “There’s a lot more out there than I want, and I want to share that. So that’s all I have to say about it.”

The NFL and NBA issued safety warnings to their players late last month after several homes were broken into while the athletes were away for games.

The NFL’s warning came after the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were attacked in October.

“Obviously it’s frustrating and disappointing,” Mahomes said after the warning was issued.

Burglaries at the homes of Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. prompted the NBA to issue a warning a day after the NFL break-in.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said Wednesday that he hired personal security when one of his cars was broken into about a year ago.

“(It was) a little too close for my comfort since my family was in the house,” Tagovailoa said. “So we have personal security to take care of all of that. When we are out there is someone with my wife and also in the house to inspect the house.”

According to a report from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, no one was injured in the break-in at Burrow’s home, which was searched.

A person employed by Burrow arrived at the Anderson Township home Monday evening to find a broken bedroom window and the home in disarray.

“We live a public life, and my least favorite thing about it is the lack of privacy,” Burrow said. “This has been difficult for me throughout my career. I’m still learning. I understand that this is the life we choose, but it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.”
