“The deceased’s brother informed that the victim’s wife’s mother, brother and uncle had filed false cases against the deceased and demanded the same 3 crores for settling the cases,” news agency ANI quoted a police statement as saying.

Speaking to ANI, the deceased’s brother claimed that his entire family had been accused under various sections in a divorce case filed by the victim’s wife. “If he had ever talked to me or our father about it, we would have helped him get out of that situation. I would like to request the Government of India and the President that justice must be done for my brother if the truth is on his side; Otherwise, give me proof that he is wrong,” he added.

The deceased’s father alleged that his son was forced by his wife and her family to travel to Jaunpur in UP at least 40 times to attend a case related to a marital dispute. “She (Subash’s wife) made one accusation after another. He must have been frustrated, but let us never feel that. Suddenly we received the information about the incident. “He sent an email to our younger son around 1 a.m.,” he said, claiming that his son’s claims in his suicide note were “100% true.”

Officials said that a complaint was received at the Hoysala police control room at 6 am on December 9 that the deceased had died by suicide in his third floor apartment, the police statement said. “The house was locked from inside and the door lock was broken in the presence of locals who went inside and were found dead,” police said.

The death of the deceased was reported to his family in Uttar Pradesh and a case was registered under Section 108 3(5) of the BNS. Police have launched further investigations to establish further details of the incident.

Death notice

The deceased, who worked in a private firm in Bengaluru, left behind a 24-page death note in which he alleged harassment by his wife and her relatives. He also emailed his death notice to his closest circles and shared it in a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was associated with.

Initial police investigation revealed that he was involved in a marital dispute with his wife, against whom a case is also pending registered in Uttar Pradesh. Police also found a poster in his home that read, “Justice is due.”

“If I win from the system, I will hand over my mortal remains in Ganga, otherwise in a gutter outside the court,” his family quoted the words from his suicide note.

A police officer said the deceased included important details such as vehicle keys and a list of tasks he had completed and outstanding tasks.
