Bill Belichick has his eye on a potential offensive coordinator

One of the main topics in hiring Bill Belichick to be the next head coach of the UNC football program is who will be on his staff. Belichick can go either way with the NFL or grab names from the college landscape, perhaps a mix.

But Ian Rapport on X (formerly Twitter) reports that the six-time Super Bowl champion has set his sights on Raiders offensive coordinator Scott Turner.

Turner, 42, began his NFL coaching career as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive quality control coach during the 2011-12 season. Since then, he has been a part of other NFL organizations such as the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders and now the Las Vegas Raiders.

It’s worth noting that Turner was the Michigan Wolverines’ offensive analyst in 2017, in the midst of all of his NFL appearances. The Wolverines finished the season with a record of 8-5. He also served as a graduate assistant for the Oregon State Beavers in 2005 and as an offensive assistant coach and wide receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Panthers from 2008 to 2010.

Long story short: Turner is no rookie when it comes to the college game – which will be of great value to Belichick.

Belichick will still have a lot to learn as UNC head coach, but will have support from a guy like Turner and perhaps anyone else he wants to add to his team. The possibilities are endless – imagine the contacts Belichick has on his phone and with one click he can start stirring the pot to advance football in Chapel Hill.

Former Tar Heels offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey has accepted a role at Michigan, but it appears Belichick has found his replacement in Turner.

This is just one of many possible coaching changes, so Carolina fans be prepared for the future.
