Former President Bill Clinton was taken to a hospital Monday afternoon for evaluation and observation after developing a fever, a Clinton spokesman said.

“President Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever. He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” wrote Angel Urena.

Urena also confirmed to Fox News that he does not currently have much additional information about Clinton’s admission or when she is expected to be released from the hospital.

The former president made headlines earlier this month when he recalled his brother Roger Clinton’s pardon while speaking about President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden during an interview at the New York Time DealBook Summit.

“I believe the president had reason to believe that the nature of the offenses would result in far more serious negative consequences for his son than would be the case for any normal person under the same circumstances,” Clinton said.

Clinton added that he had read that it was similar to his half-brother Roger Clinton’s pardon when he was president. According to the report, Roger Clinton went to prison in the 1980s on cocaine charges Washington Postand had served his sentence before Clinton pardoned him. Roger was arrested for drunk driving almost a month after his pardon.

According to the New York Times“Mr. Clinton said he did not believe the two situations were comparable, although he emphasized that presidential pardons are often complicated and politically sensitive.”

The ex-president contrasted: “My brother served 14 months in federal prison for something he did when he was 20, and I supported that, and he testified, told the truth about what he did when he was had a drug problem, and helped.” He served 14 months for bringing down a major company, and then he got out. The real question was whether he would ever be able to resume normal citizenship. ”

Clinton continued, saying that politics should not be taken out of pardon decisions when presidents are involved, adding, “I wish he hadn’t said he wouldn’t do it.”

“I think it weakens his argument,” he added.

Clinton also released a new memoir in November, “Citizen: My Life After the White House,” which is largely about Clinton’s post-presidency life in philanthropy and claims his encounters with his disgraced former staffer Jeffrey Epstein’s charitable foundation focused on his life.
