Bill Skarsgård told us how he used the toilet while filming Nosferatu

Happy Nosferatu Eve, ladies and gentlemen. Director Robert Eggers’ reimagining of the classic Dracula story is finally hitting theaters nationwide this Christmas. You know what that means, right? All of interviews – from people like Eggers, Nicholas Hoult (who plays Thomas Hutter) and Count Orlok himself, Bill Skarsgård – are finally seeing the light of day. And they’re pretty crazy.

These include, among others: Hoult, who admits that he has Count Orlok’s prosthetic tail “framed” at home (?!?!), Eggers, who describes in detail how complicated it is to teach the behavior to hundreds of rats, and Skarsgård, who it explained to us exactly why it was so easy to make a dump in the costume. Also vampire shit! For our Summer 2024 cover story, which starred the 34-year-old actor, we asked him in a video interview how he handled Orlok’s claws between takes.

“Well, I wipe my ass,” he said, laughing. “These parts were very easy to remove. The only thing that was easy to remove were the fingers. That way I could take them off between takes – if I had to go to number two.”

Here we go, folks. A mystery solved. By the way, I’m only taking Skarsgårds Orlok lightly because I’m only a week away from seeing it Nosferatu– and he is just as terrifying in the role as advertised. I don’t want to give you anything away, but Skarsgård’s take on the monster is beyond disturbing: the voice, the cup, and yes, even the tail.

“I was so scared,” Skarsgård added when he first saw Eggers’ rendition of “Count Orlok.” “Robert Eggers showed me the shapes and direction of the figure and I thought, ‘That doesn’t look like me at all.’ And I was really afraid that I wouldn’t be able to play that face, but it ended up looking great.
