Billie Eilish was hit by an object thrown at her during a concert in Arizona

Concertgoers continue to throw objects at entertainers, and Billie Eilish is the latest singer affected.

The 22-year-old “Birds of a Feather” singer was performing in Arizona on Friday when she was hit in the face by an object thrown at her from the audience, videos shared on TikTok showed.

The moment came during a performance of Eilish’s Oscar-winning “Barbie” song “What Was I Made For?” In a video, the Grammy winner was seen stopping singing for a moment after being hit by what appeared to be a necklace or bracelet, making an annoyed expression on her face before resuming the performance and the item threw to the left.

Some audience members could be heard booing the person who threw the object, and fans criticized the fan responsible in the comments of the TikTok clips.

“Why don’t people stop throwing things?” wrote one fan. “9/10 things that are thrown away are rejected. So if you want them to keep them, just wait until the end of the concert and then the workers will collect them.”

Eilish told The Hollywood Reporter last year that she’s “been confronting things on stage for literally six years” because “people just get excited and it can be dangerous.”

“I have mixed feelings because when you’re up there, it’s awesome,” she added. “But you know it’s out of love and they’re just trying to give you something.”

In the last year and a half in particular, numerous celebrities have been hit by objects being thrown at them at concerts.

In November, Zach Bryan stopped a concert in Washington after someone threw an object at him, hitting his guitarist. “Who threw that?” he asked. “Who was it?” Does anyone know?” Bryan urged fans not to throw things at musicians, adding: “If you know who threw it, if we ever find out who did it, we can get them out of here.”

In 2023, a man was charged with assault after throwing a phone at Bebe Rexha during a concert, and Kelsea Ballerini canceled a show the same month after a bracelet was thrown at her.

“Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye and it scared me more than hurt me,” Ballerini said at the time. “We all have triggers and layers of fears that run much deeper than what is being shown and that’s why I walked off stage to calm myself down and make sure that myself, the band, the crew and the audience are all together felt safe to carry on.”

Harry Styles fans have also thrown objects at the singer on multiple occasions, and in one incident in 2022, he was hit in the eye by Skittles.

Eilish is currently on tour in support of her album Hit Me Hard and Soft. Her next performance is on Sunday in California and she will tour Australia in February.
