“Bluey” is coming to the big screen. Walt Disney Co. and BBC Studios said Tuesday that a film based on the hit Australian animated series will be released in 2027. Series creator Joe Brumm is writing and directing the film. with a voice cast led by series regulars including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack. According to the companies, the CGI animated film will “follow the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, “I’ve always thought ‘Bluey’ deserved a feature film,” Brumm said in a statement. “I want this to be an experiential event that the whole family can enjoy together.” After Brumm began Australian production in 2018, the series became a global sensation and was the most-watched series worldwide on Disney+ in 2024. “Since debuting on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families around the world with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination and connection,” said Disney co-chairs Dana Walden and Alan Bergman Entertainment.

After Brumm began Australian production in 2018, the series became a global sensation and was the most-watched series worldwide on Disney+ in 2024.
