Alexandre Pantoja showed Kai Asakura that the mixed martial arts game has different levels.

On Saturday night in the main event of UFC 310, Pantoja dismantled the Japanese newcomer, ultimately choking him out in the second round for the submission victory and the third successful defense of his UFC flyweight title.

Asakura’s speed and striking power were evident early on, but Pantoja didn’t bat an eyelid as he absorbed two of the challenger’s signature knees to the midsection. The champion did his own share of damage in the stand-up, and when it went down in the second frame, Asakura was overwhelmed.

Pantoja blocked the rear-naked choke. Because Asakura didn’t want to knock, he was temporarily put to sleep by the master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The win secured him one of the performance bonuses and an additional $50,000 for his efforts.

In the co-main event, Shavkat Rakhmonov remained undefeated and grabbed that lead over Ian Machado Garry. Rakhmonov prevailed with a unanimous decision win over Garry 48-47 on all three judges cards.

The fight was very tactical, but Rakhmonov did the better job in the first two rounds and closed out the fourth round to secure the victory.

Rakhmonov will now face Belal Muhammad for the UFC welterweight title in 2025. Here’s a look at all the results from UFC 310. All performance winners are marked with a trophy emoji.
