Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham: Late goals lead to a draw

Bournemouth fired 29 shots at West Ham’s goal but needed a wonderful free-kick from Enes Unal to claim a point after a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium on Monday.

The Premier League’s second-longest active winning streak belonged to Bournemouth, but it ended at four games and became an unbeaten streak.

The Cherries are in sixth place with 25 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.

Lucas Paqueta converted a penalty conceded by Tyler Adams for West Ham, who finished 14th with 19 points.

West Ham in Lopetegui’s corner, Fabianski stars

The hosts earned all three points based on their attacking and possession performance, but goalkeeping is no afterthought and Lukasz Fabianski flexed his West Ham legend muscles by making eight saves from Bournemouth’s 29 shot attempts. But West Ham were dangerous with their 16 shot attempts and outscored the hosts on xG, and Lucas Paqueta’s celebration with Julen Lopetegui showed the Irons are behind their victorious Europa League bosses. Lopetegui only wished they could have kept their late lead.

“We deserved to win in Leicester,” said Lopetegui. “We did well today too. Above all, I would like to highlight the behavior of the group. All players work very hard to give their best for the team. This is the first step to being strong and a better team. We stay positive.”

Max Kilman was impressed with West Ham’s work ethic and said the Irons are starting to get results to match their performances.

“We always felt strongly about it,” Kilman said. via the BBC. “Things didn’t go so well, but there are still a lot of things to look forward to. Hopefully we can continue to get results. We have an incredible squad of players. We have to keep pushing and I’m sure things will improve.”

The ball spins, perhaps takes a slight deflection off Ryan Christie, and goes past the far post.

Jarrod Bowen pushes towards the Bournemouth penalty area but is surrounded by three defenders and has no chance.

He pauses, then turns and throws the ball over Arrizabalaga, which barely hits the crossbar.
