Brock Purdy update: Kyle Shanahan says 49ers QB has been ‘great all week’

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy struggled last Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills. Difficult weather conditions and his recent recovery from a shoulder injury likely contributed to his performance.

This week, Purdy participated fully in practice and is preparing for his second straight start. The 49ers host the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters Friday about how the quarterback looked in his first full week of practice since the injury.

“He’s good,” Shanahan said. “We had to wait a while to give him rest to make sure the wound had healed and we could see that at the end of last week. That’s why there were no problems last Sunday and it was great all week.”

This is encouraging news for the 49ers, who are battling to avoid playoff elimination in the final five games of the season.

Shanahan added: “I’m happy to get him back up to speed and give him a full week of training.”

Purdy appeared in 11 games this season and completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 2,707 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He hopes to end the season with a good result.
