Buddy Hield makes NBA history in the Warriors vs. Rockets NBA Cup

Buddy Hield makes NBA history in the Warriors vs. Rockets NBA Cup

The NBA was founded in 1949. Over this time, numerous all-time greats have prevailed and made a name for themselves in the record books with their historic achievements. Whether it’s Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points against the New York Knicks in 1962 or LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the first time in NBA scoring, it seems like records continue to be broken.

When the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors meet in the first round of the NBA Cup Playoffs, one of the Warriors players had a chance to achieve a milestone in NBA history, and it didn’t take long for him to do so .

In the third quarter against the Rockets, Buddy Hield reached 2,000 three-pointers in his career with his first three-pointers. This makes Hield only the 17th player to achieve this, joining nine other active players who have achieved this mark (Eric Gordon, Kevin Durant, Kyle Lowry, Paul George, LeBron James, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, James Harden, Stephen Curry).

Even before entering the NBA, Hield was destined to become an elite three-point shooter due to his successful career at Oklahoma with the Sooners. As a senior, Hield shot 45.7% from behind the arc on 8.7 attempts per game.

With Hield turning 32 next week, there is still plenty of time left in his career to climb the rankings and likely reach the top ten in a few seasons.
